We are huge supporters about journaling, like many are within the space of Personal Development.
Many feel awkward to start journaling, where to start, and some have problems with concentration. We strongly advise to make each time as your “cosy me time” with tea, coffee or hot chocolate and some biscuits and that way really making it something you are looking forward to. When you have tried this a few times for a month you will see the benefits of journaling and also appreciate your “me-time”.
A good idea is to start with two note books, a thicker one that you just go crazy and write whatever comes to your mind, and a thinner one that you transcribe your conclusions or advice you want to remind yourself with. You will most likely be surprised how much you will learn about yourself and what you actually are thinking about.
Sort the thinner note book inte a few chapters, the first about Self Awareness, who you are.
Write things in present sense who you are becoming, who you want to focus on to be. Your brain will believe it since your are reminding yourself in present sense and you will avoid a lot of nerves standing in your way.
In your thicker “brain storm go crazy – journal” you can start to discover who you are, your strengths and your weaknesses. Don’t beat yourself up about your weaknesses, just identify them and get to know your limits. Focus on your strengths and explore that about yourself. Make an investigation or a discovery trip about yourself and write down your insights and boil it down to who you are. What do you want to get better at, perhaps the expert in what fields that your strengths will come to best use?
Be open minded and write in the thinner note book, on the opening page so you see it clearly who you are, so you know what to focus on. Things that are not your priority or outside your decided zone of strengths, let someone else do that. Someone else has the strengths that you don’t have, team up with them if needed. Great teams are built with people who have different skills and that acknowledge each others strengths and let each other operate within their field of expertise.
Bring your thinner note book with you wherever you go and add new insights to it, that you want to use as reminders to yourself. Read it when you have some down time or when you are waiting or commute. Make use of time when you easily can remind yourself to stay focused on what you have committed to achieve and get less distracted as a result.
Journaling will help you to be less distracted and to stay more Focused. Keep your journal by your with you by your side and it will help you to stay focused and sharp, since you know the plans you have and what path you are on.
